Chinese Language Study in China

Learning a new language is always a big challenge, especially if it differs much from your mother tongue. For most, Chinese mandarin is a very difficult language to learn and there is no better place to do it than coming to China. Being around local people, having an optimum environment, with teachers expertise and being able to immerse into the Chinese culture, makes it ideal for completing this task.

Some learn faster than others, but in general, after one year of study (starting with zero basis) a student should reach HSK level 4 with no problems. HSK 4 is the minimum level that most Chinese universities ask for an applicant to a degree program, some even HSK 5.

Chinese language programs are generally 1 or 2 semesters long, available both in Fall and Spring intakes. Usually there will be an initial evaluation starting the school year; teachers will assess your current level and place you in a class accordingly.

According to our experience in UniApply, most students apply for a one year (2 semesters) Chinese language program as they feel will get the most out of it.
