Many cities around China have started their mass vaccination campaigns for the general public. Prior to the recent Spring Festival celebrations, vaccination programs were already being executed in Beijing with many districts setting up inoculation centers to begin vaccinating key group population.

A week after Chinese New Year, several districts in Beijing began inoculating population aged 18-59. By mid-February Beijing had already vaccinated 1.7 million residents and increasing this number by an amazing 100,000 to 150,000 people per day. 70-85% of Beijing’s 20 million residents need to be vaccinated to achieve the so called “herd-immunity”. At this rate, it is expected that the program will be completed by mid or end of May.

Vaccination is voluntary and free of cost. Initial concerns over safety and side-effects seem to be fading away as more and more people get their shots and reporting to have very mild to almost no adverse effects.

These programs are taking place across all China and their success brings light towards resuming normal life in a very near future. There are high hopes from universities to receive international students by this next 2021 September intake.
