Is it necessary to learn Chinese Mandarin to study in China?

Nowadays, many Chinese universities offer English-taught programs in all different degree levels for international students so it is not mandatory to know Chinese Mandarin to study in China. However, one of the greatest opportunities you have while studying abroad is to learn a new language as this will allow you to better understand the people and place around you.


Being able to speak with local people will also make your adaptation curve less steep and the cultural shock much more of a cultural adventure. In the future, whether finding a job or if entrepreneurship is in your mind, remember that speaking the language of 1.4 billion people is quite a good tool to have at hand to open many doors and opportunities.
