Besides CSC scholarships, many other types of scholarships exist. Some of them are:

  • University scholarships: read more on these on our separate article here.

  • Confucius Institute scholarship: these are managed and granted by the Confucius Institute and are majorly focused in Chinese taught programs related to Chinese language and literature, teaching Chinese as second language, and other fields that facilitates the promotion of Chinese culture. Applicants are usually students of Confucius Institutes around the world and will need their recommendation letter to apply.

  • Local government scholarships: These type of scholarships are managed by provincial and city local governments and usually have lower coverage conditions than CGS (Chinese government scholarships). They exist to promote local development plans and encourage outstanding international students in regional universities.

  • There are some other scholarships that are sponsored by different government institutions such as the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM). These are focused in developing talents in business, international trade and other areas of interest; usually targeted at students of specific countries where China has strong diplomatic and commercial relations.

  • Private sponsored scholarships: Although not that common but sometimes private enterprises, like Alibaba Group for example, collaborate with certain universities to develop programs that will train future global leaders for their corporate projects in other countries. These scholarships are a good way to attract talents to these programs.

Being able to be seen by many university admission officers is a great way to compete for any of these scholarship opportunities. UniApply offers a simple and efficient platform for you to do it. Sign-up here to receive updated newsletters from time to time.
